The 1st generation Chevrolet Aveo (also called Chevrolet Kalos, Chevrolet Lova, Chevrolet Nexia or Holden Barina) was available since 2004 in 4-door sedan and 5-door or 3-door hatchback body styles. The standard General Motors engines were: 1.2 L S-TEC II 83 hp (62 kW) at 6000 rpm and 84.1 lbfft (114 Nm) at 3800-4400 rpm; 1.4 L Z14XEP 89 hp (66 kW) at 5600 rpm and 92 lbft (125 Nm) at 4000 rpm; 1.6 L E-TEC II 103 hp (77 kW) at 6000 rpm and 107 lbft (145 Nm) at 3600 rpm; 1.8 L Z18XE 120-123 hp (90-92 kW) and 123 lbft (167 Nm). The standard transmission was the 5-speed manual while the 4-speed automatic was an option. In 2007 Chevrolet Aveo was facelifted. 1.6L E-TEC II engine has been replaced with an updated GEN-III Ecotec Family 1 engine with new features such as variable valve timing mechanism.
