The 1st generation Ford Escape was available since 2000 in a 5-door SUV body style. The standard engine was 2.0L Zetec inline-4 130 hp (97 kW) while the 3.0L Duratec 30 V6 200 hp (149 kW) was an option. The 2nd generation Ford Escape was available since 2008. The 2.3L Duratec 23 was replaced by a new 2.5L Duratec 25, the optional 3.0L Duratec 30 V6 was thoroughly updated. The new 6-speed 6F automatic replaced the previous 4-speed CD4E automatic on both the I4 and V6 models. The Ford Escape Hybrid is also upgraded to use the 2.5L engine.
