The 1st generation Ford Galaxy was available since 1995 in a 5-door minivan body style (three trim levels were available: Aspen, Ghia and GLX). In 1999 Ford introduced new trim levels: LX and Zetec which replaced Aspen and GLX. The standard engine was the 2.0L (1,998 cc) indirect injection Ford DOHC making 114 hp (85 kW) at 5500 rpm and 125 lb·ft (170 N·m) at 2300 rpm while the 2.8L (2,792 cc) indirect injection VR6 making 172 hp (128 kW) at 5800 rpm and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) at 4200 rpm was an option.

The 2nd generation Ford Galaxy was available since 2000 (three new trim levels were available: base-trim LX, sport-trim Zetec and luxury-trim Ghia). New engines coupled to new 4/5-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions.

The 3rd generation Ford Galaxy was available since 2006. Only Ford’s own engines were used, all diesels being from the Duratorq family of engines in 99 hp (74 kW) and 123 hp (92 kW) 1.8L format, and also 128 hp (96 kW) and 138 hp (103 kW) 2.0 TDCi versions, with 2.2 TDCi for more power. Two Petrol engines were offered: the 1.6T 160PS EcoBoost and the 2.0 203 PS EcoBoost.
