The 1st generation Chevrolet Lumina was introduced in 1989 in a 2-door notchback coupe and 4-door notchback sedan body styles. The standard engines were the 2.5 L Iron Duke 90 hp (67 kW), 3.1 L LH0 140 hp (104 kW) and the 3.4 L LQ1 200 hp (150 kW). In 1993 the 2.5L Iron Duke engine was replaced by the new 2.2 L 122 110 hp (82 kW).
The 2nd generation Chevrolet Lumina was introduced in 1994 in a 4-door notchback sedan body style (three trim levels were available: base-trim Base, highest-trim LS and top-trim LTZ). The standard engines were the 3.1 L L82 160 hp (119 kW) and 3.4 L LQ1 210 hp (157 kW). In 1997 the 3.4 L LQ1 engine was replaced by the new 3.8 L L36 200 hp (150 kW). In 2000 old engines was replaced by the 3.1 L LG8 170-175 hp (127-130 kW).
The 3rd generation Chevrolet Lumina was introduced in 2002 in a 2-door coupe utility, 4-door sedan and 5-door station wagon body styles (five trim levels were available: a base-trim Omega with 3.6 L Alloytec 240 hp (180 kW) engine, a sportier-trim SV6 with 3.6 L SIDI 280 hp (210 kW), SS with 6.0 L Generation 4 Alloy 360 hp (270 kW), SS-V with the same engine and top-trim SS-V Redline).
