The 2nd generation Chevrolet Prizm was introduced in 1993 in 4-door sedan body style. The standard engine was 1.6 L 4A-FE (L01) 113 hp (84 kW) at 5,800 rpm with torque 101 lbft (145 Nm) at 4,800 rpm while the 1.8 L 7A-FE (LV6) 105 hp (78 kW) at 5200 rpm and 117 lbft (159 Nm) torque at 2800 rpm was an option. The standard transmission was the 5-speed manual while the 4-speed automatic automatic was an option. The 3rd generation Chevrolet Prizm was available since 1998 in the same body style. The standard 1.6L 4A-FE or optional 1.8L 7A-FE engines were replaced by the new 1.8 L 1ZZ-FE LV6 I4 120 hp (89 kW) at 5600 rpm with 122 ftlb (165 Nm) of torque at 4400 rpm. In 2000, this engine was upgraded to 143 hp (105 kW) at 6400 rpm with 125.8 ftlb (170.6 Nm) of torque at 4200 rpm. The standard transmissions were the 5-speed manual or 3-speed MX1 automatic while the 4-speed MS7 automatic automatic was an option.
