The 2nd generation Chevrolet Prizm was available since 1993 in 4-door sedan body style. The standard 1.6L 4A-FE or optional 1.8L 7A-FE engines were replaced by the new 1.8 L 1ZZ-FE LV6 I4 120 hp (89 kW) at 5600 rpm with 122 ftlb (165 Nm) of torque at 4400 rpm. In 2000, this engine was upgraded to 143 hp (105 kW) at 6400 rpm with 125.8 ftlb (170.6 Nm) of torque at 4200 rpm. The standard transmissions were the 5-speed manual or 3-speed MX1 automatic while the 4-speed MS7 automatic automatic was an option.
