The 1st generation Chevrolet Tahoe (also called GMC Yukon or Chevrolet Grand Blazer) was introduced in 1995 in 2-door, 3-door, 4-door and 5-door SUV body styles. The standard engine was Chevrolet’s 5.7 L (350 cu in) Vortec 5700 LO5 small-block V8 255 hp (190 kW) 335 lbft (454 Nm), while a turbocharged 6.5 L (395 cu in) Detroit Diesel V8 180 hp (134 kW) was an option (2-door 4WD Chevrolet Tahoe only). The 2nd generation Chevrolet Tahoe was introduced in 1999 in a 4-door SUV body style. The standard engines were 4.8 L Vortec 4800 275 hp (205 kW) 285 lb·ft (386 N·m) and 5.3 L Vortec 5300 280 hp (209 kW) 325 lb·ft (441 N·m). In 2003, both engines were upgraded to 295 hp (220 kW) 295 lb·ft (400 N·m) and 295 hp (220 kW) 330 lb·ft (447 N·m). The Flex Fuel engine became available first in the 2002.
The 3rd generation Chevrolet Tahoe was introduced in 2006 in a 4-door SUV body style. Four engines were available: 5.3 L LY5 320 hp (239 kW) 340 lb·ft (461 N·m), 5.3 L LMG 295 hp (220 kW) 335 lb·ft (454 N·m), 6.2 L L92 403 hp (301 kW) 417 lb·ft (565 N·m), 6.2 L L9H 405 hp (302 kW) 340 lb·ft (461 N·m). A 6-speed 6L80 automatic transmission replaced the 4-speed 4L60-E on all trucks except 2WD models with the 4.8L Vortec 275 hp (205 kW) 285 lb·ft (386 N·m) engine. The 4th generation Chevrolet Tahoe was introduced in 2014 (three trim levels were available: LS, LT, and LTZ). Two engines were available: 5.3 L EcoTec3 L83 355-380 hp (250-283 kW) 383-416 lb·ft (519- 564 N·m) and 6.2 L EcoTec3 L86 420 hp (313 kW) 450 lb·ft (609 N·m) with 6-speed 6L80 or 8-speed 8L90 automatic transmission. In 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe was facelifted.
