The 1st generation Chevrolet Tracker was available since 1988 in 2-door SUV, 4-door SUV and 2-door convertible body styles. Three trim levels were available: a base convertible, base hardtop and a CL hardtop. One petrol engine was available: 1.6 L LS5 I4 produced 80 hp (60 kW). In 1996, this engine was replaced by the 1.6 L L01 I4 produced 95 hp (71 kW) and 98 lb·ft (133 N·m).
The 2nd generation Chevrolet Tracker was available since 1999 in the same body styles. Three petrol engines were available: 1.6 L L01 I4 produced 95 hp (71 kW) and 98 lb·ft (133 N·m), 2.0 L J20A I4 produced 127 hp (95 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 134 lb·ft (182 N·m) at 3,000 rpm, 2.5 L H25A V6 produced 156 hp (116 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 157 lb·ft (213 N·m) at 3,500 rpm. In 2001, this engine was updated to 160 hp (119 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 163 lb·ft (221 N·m) at 3,500 rpm.
