Chevrolet Venture was introduced in 1996 in 3/4-door minivan body styles (a short-wheelbase SWB and a long-wheelbase versions LWB). Four trim levels were available: base, LS, LT and LTV. The standard engine was the 3.4 L LA1 V6 180 hp (134 kW) at 5200 rpm 210 lb·ft (280 N·m) at 4000 rpm. In 1999, this engine was slightly redesigned to produce an extra 5 hp (4 kW), for a total of 185 hp (138 kW) at 5200 rpm 210 lb·ft (280 N·m) at 4000 rpm. In 2002, the Venture was facelifted. All Ventures used the 4-speed 4T65-E automatic transmission. In 2005, Chevrolet Venture was replaced by Chevrolet Uplander.
