Ford Freestyle (also called Ford Taurus X) was introduced in 2004 in 5-door crossover body style (three trim levels were available: basic SE [it included basic features], SEL [it had the features of the basic SE plus the option of leather seating, rear DVD, and an AM/FM stereo with a six-disc CD/MP3 changer etc.] and Limited [it had all the features of the SEL plus standard leather seating, seven speakers, and standard 2nd-row captain’s chairs]). The standard engine was the 3.0L (2,967 cc) indirect injection Duratec 30 V6 making 203 hp (151.5 kW) at 5750 rpm and 207 lb·ft (281 N·m) at 4500 rpm. The Ford Freestyle was equipped with the continuously variable transmission (CVT), but only all-wheel drive (AWD) models used the CVT (FWD versions used an six speed automatic). In 2008 the Ford Freestyle was renamed the Ford Taurus X.
