The 1st generation Honda Fit (also called Honda Jazz) was available since 2001 in a 5-door hatchback body style (2WD and 4WD models). Vehicles were available with a 1.2L (1,246 cc) L12A SOHC i-DSI making 76 hp (57 kW) at 5700 rpm and 81 lb·ft (110 N·m) at 2800 rpm, 1.3L (1,339 cc) L13A SOHC i-DSi making 84 hp (63 kW) at 5700 rpm and 88 lb·ft (119 N·m) at 2800 rpm or 1.5L (1,496 cc) L15A SOHC 16 valve i-VTEC making 118 hp (88 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 107 lb·ft (145 N·m) at 4,800 rpm engines. The standard transmission was a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic while a continuously variable transmission was an option.

The 2nd generation Honda Fit was available since 2007 in 5-door hatchback and 5-door wagon body styles (two trim levels were available: base and Sport). In 2011 Honda offered the subcompact minivan Honda Fit Shuttle and Fit Shuttle Hybrid.

In 2013 Honda offered the 3rd generation Honda Fit in the same body styles. Vehicles were used 1.5L DOHC 16 valve i-VTEC engine with direct injection, 6-speed manual or CVT with available paddle shifters.
