The 1st generation Jeep Cherokee (SJ) was available since 1974 in 2-door wagon body style (the Jeep Cherokee was a redesigned reintroduction of a 2-door body style Jeep Wagoneer, with a single fixed rear side window with an optional flip-out section.). A 4-door body style Jeep Cherokee was available since 1977 (eight trim levels were available: S, Chief, Golden Eagle, Golden Hawk, Limited, Classic, Sport, Pioneer, and Laredo). The 2nd generation Jeep Cherokee (XJ) was available since 1984 in 2/4-door SUV body styles (thirteen trim levels were available: Base, Wagoneer, Briarwood, Pioneer, Pioneer Olympic Edition, Chief, Classic, Sport, Country, Limited, Laredo, Freedom and 60th Anniversary). The 3rd generation Jeep Cherokee (KJ) was available since 2001 in 4-door SUV body style. It was the first Jeep vehicle to use the two then-new PowerTech engines: 2.4L straight-4 150 hp (110 kW), which was discontinued in 2006, and 3.7L V6 210 hp (160 kW). The 4th generation Jeep Cherokee (KJ) was available since 2007. The 5th generation Jeep Cherokee (KL) is available since 2013 in 4-door SUV body style (four trim levels were available: Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, and Limited).
