The 1st generation Jeep Wrangler (YJ) was available since 1986 in 2-door convertible and 2-door SUV body styles (six trim levels were available: Base, Laredo, Sport, Sahara, Renegade and Rio Grande). The Jeep Wrangler used a 2.5 L AMC 150 Inline-4 or optional 4.2 L AMC 258 CID straight-6 until 1991. That year, a fuel-injected 4.0L AMC 242 variant replaced the 4.2 L 258. The NP207 transfer case was used only for 1987 and replaced by the NP231.
