Pontiac G3 Wave was introduced in 2004 in 4-door sedan and 5-door or 3-door hatchback body styles. Four petrol engines were available: 1.2 L S-TEC II I4 produced 83 hp (62 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 84.1 lb·ft (114 N·m) at 3,800-4,400 rpm, 1.4 L Z14XEP I4 produced 89 hp (66 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 92 lb·ft (125 N·m) at 4,000 rpm, 1.6 L E-TEC II I4 produced 103 hp (77 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 107 lb·ft (145 N·m) at 3,600 rpm, 1.8 L Z18XE I4 produced 120-123 hp (90-92 kW) and 123 lb·ft (167 N·m). The standard transmission was the 5-speed manual while the 4-speed Aisin 80-40LE automatic was an option. In 2007 Pontiac Wave was facelifted. 1.6L E-TEC II engine has been replaced with an updated GEN-III Ecotec Family 1 engine produced 103 hp (77 kW) at 5,800-6,000 rpm and 107 lb·ft (145 N·m) at 3,400-3,600 rpm. The Pontiac G3 was available since 2006 in the same body styles.
