Pontiac G5 was introduced in 2005 in 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe body styles. The standard engine was 2.0 L Ecotec LSJ S/C I4 produced 205 hp (153 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 200 lb·ft (271 N·m) at 4,400 rpm while the 2.2 L L61 I4 engine produced 145 hp (108 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 155 lb·ft (210 N·m) at 4,000 rpm was an option. In 2006, the new 2.4 L Ecotec LE5 I4 engine produced 171 hp (128 kW) at 5,800 rpm and 163 lb·ft (221 N·m) at 4,500 rpm was added. In 2007, this engine was updated to 173 hp (129 kW) at 6,200 rpm and 163 lb·ft (221 N·m) at 4,800 rpm.
